The loud thunder and the occasional flash of lighting could be seen from just inside the mouth of the large cave. The pouring rain echoed from within the cave, as well as the wind that seemed strong enough to uproot the largest of trees. This cave offered the only shelter from the harsh storm for quite a distance; it would be no surprise if some creature was forced to spend the cold night here.
A small shadow quickly scurried into the cave. Upon further inspection, the shadow appeared to be a young dark-furred wolf. Her pelt was even darker due to being soaking wet, and she shook it out in an attempt to dry it. Finally, her gray-blue eyes scanned the interior of the cave for a short moment, before she began to make her way deeper into the cave.
Only a few minutes into her journey further down the dark cavern, a few brightly colored gems could be found on the cold stone walls. The dark wolf padded onward, and only after another few moments of silence along with the occasional thunder did she speak.
"I don't know if you'll talk to me..." She said in her gentle, young voice. "I'm not even sure if you can hear me, but I think it's worth a try." Even as she spoke, the young wolf made her way deeper into the cavern. More gems sparkled on the wall, ranging from blue to violet, even a magnificent red here and there. The small wolf could only gaze at them in wonder as she continued her journey.
"My name is Cassidy.. but, you might already know that. Kenai is my brother, a messenger of Cana." The wolf had finally stopped when she had been walking for quite some time, the walls embedded with even more sparkling gems. The air was cold, and the occasional thunder could still be heard echoing throughout the cave. The small wolf merely twitched her ears to it; even if her pelt was still wet, while deep into the cave the storm was no longer her concern.
"He's been given an assignment from Cana." The wolf said quietly, "Something to do with this fighting between the gods." She let her head drop a bit, then continued. "I just want him to be safe, if you'll watch over him for me."

Codac
With the heavy rain and dangerous lightning, it was no place for a wolf to be outside. The rain coated all scents and sight, along with any hope of finding shelter. The occasional flash of lightning did little to provide light in the darkness of the storm.
Big paws thudded on the muddy ground, now the same color as the mud that coated every spot of earth. Evan with short fur, Codac felt like an extra hundred pounds had been added on to him. the thick fur around his neck was soaked and weighted down his head. moving forward, that was the goal. just keep moving forward.
What had brought upon this storm. Was it the commotion between the gods? or maybe just to soak down the land. After all, it had been rather dry lately. The commotion between the gods escaped no ears, not even the ears of an outsider. So cold...
Codac shook his head to try and think of different things. New wolves. The wolves in this land were all so small. in his land, they would all be considered pups at the size there at. And so many blue eyes...what was with the blue eyes? He was starting to dislike blue eyed wolves, not because of the eye color but because of the way they treated him. Like a piece of rotten food, the way they talked, the way they acted to him, no, they weren't very nice at all.
deep in thought, he almost forgot about the rain. but when the wight of it suddenly lifted, he was brought back into reality. he looked around, t find himself in a cave. A nice cave. A few gems littered the wall, letting off a nice glow. It was a good place to seek shelter from the storm.

With nothing else to say to the gods, Cassidy simply waited. It was still storming outside, and it was likely it would be all night. She have to spend the night in this dark cave, but Cass didn't really mind so much. The gems in the walls really were beautiful, it was certainly a better place to stay than most caves she found.
A rather loud sudden crack of thunder made Cass jump, even this far back into the cave. She shook her head reminding herself that it was just the storm, and went back to admiring the crystals in the wall. It was no wonder she often heard of messengers coming to this place, it was beautiful, and it gave a wolf some time away from the rest of the world.
That was something Cass needed lately. Other wolves always made her so nervous, at times she didn't think she'd ever be able to join a pack. Would she be forced to wander for the rest of her life until she came across some big red-eyed wolf that had a bad day? It was only a matter of time until she ended up getting into a fight, anyway.
But Cass didn't have to worry about any of that right now. For now, she was all alone in her own little place. She didn't hear anyone else in the cave, everyone was probably hiding somewhere else from the storm. Still, the thought of spending yet another night alone made Cass sigh.

Codac
Codac dragged his slopping wet paws across the cave flow, to a dryer spot. He thought momentarily of licking them, but decided against it. The taste of mud clung to his toung for days after cleaning himself, so instead he just gave his massive paws a stomp and shook his fur. The scruff on his neck spiked up with mud, although he didn't notice. The storm sure had drown him, but with a dryer place he would be dry in no time.
A nice place for a shelter indeed. Although it was only at the entrance, a few gems dotted the walls of the cave and gave the faintest glow. A memory struck him, as his mind wonderd back to hearing about this place. "A place for messengers to talk to there gods." he chuckled. A red-eyed wolf like him was probably not welcome here, although he doubted there was anyone in here.
"Just little old me." He sighed, not really sure if that was a good thing. sure, his eye color made it unsafe around other wolves, but that didn't stop him from getting lonely. Coming to a new land was scary enough, and than he learned that he wasn't welcome. "Talk about a bring-me-down..." he muttered.
Codacs paws slid to a stop as he herd the light sigh and his mind raced. Looks like i spoke t soon. he silently wondered if the stranger had herd him. He went threw his options, there weren't many. Stay and check it out. Leave and face the rain. In the end, he decided to stay and investigate, stepping forward as he went deeper into the cave.

"I wish I was a messenger." Cassidy said in her quiet voice, as she gazed at the glowing crystals embedded in the wall. "I don't think they ever feel alone when they can talk to their gods." In truth Cass knew little about messengers, she only knew what her brother had told her in the small amount of time she spent with him. They always fascinated her, but like any other wolf she felt nervous around them.
The glowing gems were beautiful, but Cassidy rather liked watching storms. She considered returning to the entrance to watch the rain and lightning, but in a storm as big as this the loud thunder made her a bit jumpy. She soon found herself gazing at the gems once more, but eventually stood. Cassidy's ears perked as thunder echoed faintly through the cave again, but Cass swore she heard something else.
A voice, perhaps? She wasn't sure.. it was possible she was simply being paranoid. Cass remained completely still as she listened for another sound, but she heard nothing. Deciding it was simply her imagination, Cass then began to make her way back toward the entrance. She kept her gaze on the sparkling crystals on the walls, never tired of looking at the amazing sight. It wasn't until Cassidy caught a strange scent that she glanced forward.
When Cass noticed the large wolf merely a few yards in front of her, she froze and stared in shock. Compared to her, this wolf was huge. But that wasn't what scared her most, it was his bright red eyes that immediately caught her attention. Cass could barely move as she stared in horror at the huge wolf in front of her, but she eventually managed to take a step back. She opened her mouth as if to say something, but then closed it again when no words came.

Codac
As soon as the smaller wolf came within sight, Codac stopped and quickly examined her. She was tiny, no Pewnie compared to him, and in fact most wolves he had seen. Her eyes were a lovely grey, and her fur was dark and very beautiful. All together, she was a nice looking wolf.
Than he caught her expression. Codac quickly took a few steps back, hoping she didn't see him as a threat. But of course, she did. His massive size, damp and muddy coat, and red eyes filled hers with horror. As most wolves did, she probably did'nt see the rim of blue in his eyes that most wolves overlook. As Codac caught her fear scent, he took another step back.
"I'm sorry, i didn't mean to alarm you. This is the only shelter from the storm i have come across, i am very new to these lands." It was the only thing he could think to say, and he said it in the least threatening way passable. He used a calm, hushed voice although it was still pretty loud because of his size.

Cassidy almost felt as if she would cry as the large red-eyed wolf examined her. From the glow of the gems the cave was dimly lit, but she could see the wolf. At least, she was fairly certain it was a wolf. With his size and his brown fur, the stranger almost looked like a bear. Was this how she would die? Cass certainly didn't expect it this soon. Her only other option was to run, and that meant facing the storm.
She was surprised when the stranger stepped back, it was the last thing she expected to happen. As she continued to look into his eyes, Cass thought she noticed something rather strange on the rim.. but she wasn't going to get any closer to investigate. When the stranger took another step back, Cassidy managed to relax just a bit. She had expected him to snap at her for staring at him, so he surprised her by acting so calm.
When he spoke, it was as if all other noise suddenly ceased. Even the loud thunder seemed distant, for she could hear him clearly over the storm. But that wasn't what surprised her most, it was the calm tone he spoke in. Was he trying to reassure her? It didn't exactly work, but she felt better knowing he wasn't acting hostile toward her.
Once again, Cass attempted to speak. She took a deep breath and looked away, staring down at the ground. It was probably a mistake taking her eyes off of him and letting her guard down, but it made her feel less nervous if she wasn't looking at them. "T-That's okay.. I'm here because of the storm too.."

Codac
Codac went over his options again. He could leave this poor wolf alone, she was clearly scared in his presence. But a crack of loud thunder reminded him that is just wasn't safe to go out there. If he stayed, he would either have to Ignore the wolf, or try to befriend her. But with the scared look in her eyes before they flashed down to the ground, he wasn't sure that was possible.
"Than we are two with the same problem." he said with a small smile. "Forgive me for not introducing myself, I am Codac, Formal resident of the Shallow Mountain Pack." Formal was the key word to that statement. Now, he was alone and on his own. "I also appoigise for being such a mess in the presence of such a fair lady, the storm has soaked me to the bone in water and mud. " He chuckled quietly.
He quietly wondered about this wolf. Quite small, was she alone? Was she from a pack, or a rouge? There were s many possibilities, it made his mind wonder as usual. Her grey eyes meant nothing to him, besides the fact that they were beautiful. He always looked past the eye color of a wolf until he knew them better.

Another sudden crack of thunder made Cassidy jump once more, but she reminded herself that she was safe from the storm here. Safe from the storm at least, but not from this wolf. She wasn't sure which of her options was worse, staying here or facing the dangerous storm. Still, it was clear to her that this stranger was trying to act friendly.
But why? Cass figured that any red eyed wolf would hate to be stuck in a cave all night with a tiny wolf like her. Or perhaps it was because her eyes were more gray instead of fully blue. Whatever the reason, Cassidy knew that it was probably best to stay here in the cave. This stranger seemed sincere, but but she couldn't simply ignore his size and his red eyes.
Cassidy's thoughts were suddenly interrupted when the wolf spoke again, and she listened closely as he introduced himself. She didn't recognize the name of his former pack, but she had been keeping her distance from packs lately. When he apologized, Cassidy was surprised at being called a "fair lady". In fact, she was unable to keep herself from blushing a bit. She had to gather her thoughts before she could speak again, but managed to do better than the last time she spoke.
"My name is Cassidy.. I came from the Shadow Creek pack, but I left them a while ago.." The wolf's wet fur made Cass think of her own, while hers was slightly ruffled from the wind and rain it was was only slightly damp now. "It really is a big storm... I've never seen one so big."

Codac
Cassidy, what a name for such a wolf. Codac rememberd back to a wolf he knew once named cassidy, a big, monsterous wolf. Almost as big as him, the wolf was ruby-red eyed and nothing like this quiet little wolf. Curious, what different wolves he met away from his home land. "I knew another wolf named Cassidy once..."
Codac blinked at the crackle of loud thunder. A big storm this one was indeed, he had only seen one bigger many years ago. "yes, this storm is quite somthing. It makes me wonder if it came for no reason, or if the gods are at somthing. the commotion with Vesper and Corrin has sent everything a-miss laltely." He sighed softly.
The unsureness cassidy held in her eyes, codac could simply jot ignore. even though she had given him much more chance than most wolves, although that was probubly just becouse she was most likely intimadated by him. He had to say somthing. "There not fully red, you know. Ive looked at my reflection in lakes, and streems. They have a bit of blue." he paused, feeling a bit of anger in him. why did every wolf judge him? "I cant figure it out, why there red. Im not a bad wolf, ive just had a hard life. " he turned away from her, stoping himself from saying any more.

"You did?" Cassidy asked, having never heard of another wolf with her name. But that was not surprising, considering she usually kept her distance from others. The only place she truly felt safe was the Hollow, and since her brother left she had no reason to return to that place. Not to mention being a normal wolf in a place filled with messengers always made her feel out of place, and that was something Cass hated more than anything.
Cassidy's ears then perked slightly when Codac mentioned the gods. Other than their names she knew almost nothing about them, except the goddess Cana. Her former pack taught her nothing about them, she knew only what she learned from her bother in the short amount of time she spent with him. She knew her brother had been sent on an assignment from Cana that had something to do with fighting between gods and messengers, but she didn't really know why they were fighting.
As Cassidy continued to look into his eyes, she did notice the blue rim. Was that even possible? She had certainly never seen anything like that before. She nodded, actually allowing herself to sit down now. That was a good sign, she at least felt safe enough to let her guard down a little bit. Still, she was going to continue to watch him, and it was clear she was still nervous in his presence.
But her mind soon wandered back to her question from earlier. Cass had finally decided to ask him, once again glancing down at her paws as she said, "Why are the gods fighting, anyway?"

Codac
Codac looked back to her now. He knew much about the gods, although he had never met a messenger wolf before. His sister told him everything she knew about them, which was a lot. Still, he had never started up a conversation with another wolf about them. Although nervous, Cassidy seemed curious to know about them.
"Well, its mainly Vesper and Corrin who are fighting. Since Vesper is the god of Unity, and Corrin separated the wolves, they never exactly got along. They have always been fighting, since the separation of good and evil." He paused for a moment before continuing. " But, i don't think anyone really knows why there fighting has increased lately. Only the gods themselves know."
Her curiosity made him slightly curious, but he didn't bring it up. It was surprising that she knew little about the gods fight, it seemed every wear he went it was brought up. And than of course, the red eyed wolves were found to be blamed some how, or the blue eyed wolves were attacked by the red-eyed wolves.
Such commotion, over eye color. Personally, Codac agreed with vesper in uniting the wolves. but than again, that was just because he didn't believe eye color identified the wolf. What had brought Corrin to come up with the idea to separate the wolves anyways? It was a question that often remained in his head.

Cassidy nodded as she listened, still staring at the ground for the most part. She realized it seemed rude not to make eye contact, but she needed to if it meant not having a nervous breakdown. Those red eyes scared her, even if she knew about the blue on the rim. Or maybe it was more because of his large size, but the red eyes certainly didn't help.
"I knew some gods were fighting... but I didn't know how many or what it was about.." Cass stopped to paw at the ground a bit, something she tended to do when she was shy. She thought about the gods and the thunderstorms, now realizing that there was a connection. "I was never really taught much about the gods... I only know about Cana because my brother is a messenger for her."
Cass then silently scolded herself for telling Codac that part. What if he had a hatred for messengers? She knew that many wolves did, and she now realized that it was likely because they were blamed for the fighting. Cass personally liked the messengers, she just felt so unimportant in their presence, being such a small normal wolf.
Quickly she attempted to change the subject, hoping she hadn't made it too noticeable. "Why did Corrin separate the wolves?" It really didn't make sense to her, what was the point of it? Her brother had told her about the war that followed the separation. What good did it do if all it started was a long, bloody war? Sometimes Cass wanted to know what the gods were thinking.

Codac
Codac smiled when Cassidy said her brother was a messenger. That was dangerous information to be giving out in times like these, he wondered if she knew that. When she tried to change the subject, he caught on.
"A good question indeed, one i often ask myself." He could understand why the godess of purity would feel the need to separate the wolves, but was she so blind she actually looked past the fact that a war could start. "It was her way of separating the good from the wicked." His tone was rather bitter. "being the godess of purity, perhaps it was her way of seeking out the pure."
He looked back at Cassidy, his red eyes stayed on her for a moment. Her gaze was pointed to the ground, although he couldent blame her. "But it seems even the gods make mistakes." he looked towards the cave entrance, wear the pounding rain went on.
"but, on the subject of your brother," he spoke softly now, in a non-threatening way. "That is quite the information to be giving out. In times like these, it might be best to keep it to yourself. Many wolves no longer fancy messengers for there deeds to the gods." In times like this, the wrong word could start a fatal fight. Rough times indeed.

The smile Codac gave when Cass revealed her brother was a messenger made her feel uneasy once again. Cassidy often had nightmares, though she would never tell anyone, and sometimes they were about wolves trying to hurt her because of what her brother was. But most of the time, they were usually about wolves picking on her because of her size.
But there was something Cass didn't understand. She had told herself long ago that she would never tell another soul that her brother was a messenger. And now here with this big red eyed wolf, it somehow managed to slip out. She only hoped they wouldn't discuss it further, and that her quick change of the subject worked.
Cassidy listened once again as Codac spoke, not daring to glance up since he gave that smile. It still didn't really make sense to her why one would separate the wolves, but considering it was the goddess of purity that did it.. maybe it did make a little sense. Still, Cass wondered if Corrin had no idea it would start a war, or if she just didn't care.
Cassidy's ear flattened a bit when she heard Codac speak of her brother. While his voice sounded soft and almost reassuring, Cass feared what he was about to say. It appeared he wasn't angry with her, which made Cassidy feel relieved. She nodded, and said quietly, "It just slipped out.. I never tell anyone that.."
