The Anger Within The Gods It is said that when a God or Goddess feels a strong emotion, There messengers feel it to. This in itself is proof how strongly the messengers are connected to the Gods.
Dawn
It had been a quiet, peaceful day at Vespers Pond. Young dragonflies could be seen across the pond, flying about. The sound of birds filled the forest not to far away, and it blended perfectly with the smooth wind. The soft, Marshy ground by the pond had hardened slightly, making it possible to go for a swim. It was the perfect place to relax, for any wolf.
Well...Almost any wolf.
Dawn lay by the water edge, stretched out. Her freshly groomed pelt looked better than usual, as she had just cleaned herself. Her eyes were closed, and her green markings glowed beautifully in the sun. The only thing indicating she was not at perfect peace was the occasional twitch on her whiskers.
Bam! Anger! Frustration! It startled The small brown wolf so much she jumped up, her neck fur standing on end, her eyes wide. She felt it balled up in her, in her mind, in her stomach, in her body. An unknown anger from an unknown source.
Dawn, being the type that didn't get angry very easily, was shocked and frankly scared. She shook her head to try and clear her mind.

It would have been a nice day, if it weren't for the tension in the air. The day was calm and quiet, just how Seryna liked it, but today was just like any other; filled with anger, and all because of the two gods. Seryna herself wasn't angry, but it was as if she could feel it from the gods, or at least from Corrin. Perhaps normal wolves or other messengers couldn't feel it, but a wolf with as strong connection to Corrin or Vesper certainly could.
But though she told herself she was not angry, Seryna always did feel angry toward Vesper, along with his messengers. In her eyes it was Vesper who caused the feud, and his messengers always roaming around preaching about unity and trust. That was what angered her. They were the reason Corrin had not spoken to her in weeks, perhaps months. Now, she was left to wander always hoping for new some new assignment from her goddess.
"Unity is dead." Seryna told herself, "Vesper should have realized that long ago.." It was in fact Corrin who caused the separation between the wolves, and in turn the war, but it was necessary.
Wasn't it? After all this fighting Seryna wasn't sure.
Lost in her own thoughts, Seryna hadn't even been paying attention to where she was going. She hardly knew the area, she had simply began walking this way to avoid a pack to the east. Since the fights between Corrin and Vesper have been getting worse, Seryna found herself isolating herself from other wolves once again. But unknown to her, she was heading toward a place that she would never go, a sacred place where messengers of Corrin were certainly not welcome.

Dawn
Dawns mind wondered, to the source of her anger. Vesper? Probably arguing with Corrin again. At the thought of his name, Dawn felt more anger sweep threw her, a feeling she rarely felt on her own. Yes, definitely Corrin. The foolish god..."How dare he say unity is dead? Unity still runs threw us, we prove that by living in packs and traveling together. Even if the wolves are separated by eye color, its only a color." Indeed, dawn believed every wolf had good in them, there eye color simply indicated whether they have the stranth to show it or not.
"What a foolish decision, separating the wolves. Corrin, such a foolish god. He must want bloodlust, to carve a way into our hearts, that denies us a way to accept each other..." Her frustrated words would never come out on a normal day, but vespers anger drove deep within her.
The small wolfs paws sunk into the ground, she had not even noticed where she had been standing. Dawn quickly leaped off of the spot, well...tried. Her back foot stuck deep in the mud, and she collapsed. Ripping it out was a challenge, she had to roll around in order to rench it free. getting up again, a shake of her fur did little to get rid of the mud.
She didn't even notice, that all the mud on her fur had covered up her beautiful, green markings.

Seryna huffed to herself. Was being a messenger an honor, or a curse? She suddenly felt a bit of guilt for even thinking that being a messenger was not a great honor. Corrin had blessed her with the skills to protect pure souls, the least she could do was serve without questioning herself, or her goddess. It wouldn't be so hard if she hadn't felt that every wolf was against her.
Many wolves, both normal and messenger, did seem to favor Vesper. He didn't cause the long, bloody war from separating the wolves, Corrin did. Many say she acted out of fear, it happened around the time that the gods were forced to banish Tor. And if it weren't for Corrin, the messengers would not exist. But that would only be because there would simply be no need for them.
On and on Seryna argued with herself, every moment feeling more anger. If it had already been two hundred years, why did Vesper and Corrin have to fight now? Wouldn't they have settled it long ago? Seryna soon realized why, in the time she'd spent training in the Hollow, she learned much about the gods, not just Corrin. She knew both Vesper and Corrin were known for being stubborn, it was likely that the conflict had gone on since the war, slowly building up over the last two centuries.
A thought caused Seryna to shiver, as she considered what might happen when the fighting stops. If Corrin got her way, the wolves would stay separated forever and messengers would remain. If Vesper did, the wolves would be brought back together, with a chance that the messengers would remain. The remaining two outcomes were much worse. If the conflict was not resolved, either the fighting would continue for another hundred or possibly thousand years, or the other gods might take action to immediately end the conflict. The only way to end it for sure would be to banish one or both of the gods.
"But they wouldn't do that, right?" Seryna asked herself. "Tor was banished because he went mad with power, that's not the case here." No, the gods were more understanding than that. But it made Seryna curious as to why the other gods haven't tried to resolve the conflict already. Or perhaps they had already tried?
All this time Seryna had not been paying attention to where she was going. All she knew was that she smelled no nearby packs, and that was fine by her. Seryna would rather not take the risk of stumbling upon some red-eyed pack with a hatred towards a "stuck up messenger of Corrin". It wasn't until Seryna spotted a figure in the distance standing near a rather large pond that she suddenly stopped walking. She assumed it was a normal wolf, for she couldn't make out any unusual markings.

Dawn
Having a god that was close to you had pros, and cons. Theres always that feeling your not alone, there always with you. Or were they? In her pup-hood, dawn always felt as though she was alone. Ok, so maybe that wasn't true. She had Sphix...
The awefull thought of her mother made Dawn shudder. The old wolf was never quite right, although dawn wasn't sure why. What awefull things had she seen? With the war and all... "I don't understand, how the gods could let such a thing occur, its all corrins fault..." If Vesper had gotten her way, there would be no war, and no need for messengers. She could have had a normal life...
Guilt crossed her for thinking only of herself. There were other wolves, with much worse lives. At least she was alive, unlike her little sister. Her mind wondered, as it often did, for quite a while before she spotted Seryna. The messenger wolf sent a jolt of fear threw dawn, upon seeing her marking color. Corrin... Vespers anger bundled up, as Dawn struggled to contain it.
Fear, anger, and the horrible feeling of shyness was almost to much for dawn. The messenger wolf was a lot bigger than her, but than again, it was only one wolf. The idea of a fight occurring didn't even cross her mind as she managed a smile and choked out a single word. "H-Hello.."
What was a messenger of Corrin's doing here anyways. At vespers pond? Especially with the commotion between the gods, it was a confusing sight.

"Hello there." Seryna called back, as she quietly walked toward the stranger. Upon closer inspection she realized that the stranger was covered in mud, which confused Seryna. Was there something she was trying to hide? She then pushed the thought from her mind with a subtle shake of her head, there was certainly nothing to hide.
The wolf certainly seemed surprised at her appearance, perhaps she was only shy, or she might have recognized her to be a messenger of Corrin. By now, almost any wolf could recognize her markings, messenger or not. As Seryna approached the wolf and the pond, she glanced to the water to see a few rather large fish swimming about.
While Seryna had mostly been avoiding other wolves recently, this one didn't seem so bad. She was a rather small wolf, and she clearly seemed nervous. Seryna sat, and gave the wolf a small smile in her best attempt to reassure her. Seryna wasn't really known for being good with other wolves, but she figured she'd try anyway.
Her mind suddenly wandered back to the mud that caked the stranger's fur. How did it get there, anyway? Some areas around the pond were rather muddy, so Seryna guessed that she might have gotten stuck somewhere. Perhaps she would asked about it later.

Dawn
Dawn eyed the wolf with a heavy mind. Socializing was'nt her best stranth, in fact she preferred to be in contact with minimal wolves. Although, This wolf didn't seem so bad, and was surprisingly kind to her for a messenger of Corrin. The reassuring smile was comforting, and Dawn returned it with a shy smile of her own.
The dried, cracked mud on her fur suddenly caught dawn attention as it made her skin itch. She turned her neck to wear her foot got stuck nd she had to roll to get loose. Her muddy fur than caught her attention, and embarrassment crossed her face. "Sorry...the mud..." She apologized, clearly embarrassed. "Its l-less stable...than it looks."
Her mind flashed, with curiosity. What was a messenger of Corrin doing here, especially in a time like this? Perhaps, a question best left unasked.

Seryna nodded, realizing that this wolf might be more comfortable with listening rather than talking. Seryna was the same way, but she didn't mind being the one to talk once in a while. Another thought came to her, it was most likely Seryna's presence that was making the stranger nervous. With that in mind, she gave another small smile before she heard the stranger speak.
When the wolf explained that the ground was unstable, Seryna nodded again. "So I imagine. But what are you apologizing for?" There was no need to apologize for falling in mud. Seryna gave her another reassuring smile, then looked to the pond again. She was quiet for a moment, watching the large fish swim about in the pond before glancing to the stranger again.
With the other wolf being so quiet, Seryna decided to speak again in hopes of possibly starting a conversation. "I've just been wandering, I lost track of where I was going a long time ago." Seryna glanced at their surroundings for a moment. "But this does look like a peaceful place." What little peace left there was, anyway. Seryna never found peace once the fighting started between Corrin and Vesper.

Dawn
Dawn nodded. So the wolf didn't know were she was? This must seem like such a nice place to her. Remembering back to when dawn was first showed it, her memories flooded with joy. "I-it is very peaceful. It is My favorite place to come... b-besides the sunning rocks that is. Its often very quiet here, to. It goes by the name of Vespers Pond."
"Im D-Dawn by the way." Her voice was very quiet, but could be herd easily because of the quiet setting. It was curious, to see a messenger of Corrin. She had only seen one once, from afar. The blue markings were quite beautiful, and a simple shade of blue that marched The wolfs coat beautifully.

When the stranger mention that this was one of her favorite places, Seryna gave a nod. "I can see why." But when she leaned of the name, Seryna's expression changed a bit. She certainly wasn't smiling anymore, but she didn't want to make this new wolf uncomfortable again by showing her dislike for the name. ".. Vesper's Pond? An interesting name.."
Seryna then became curious as to why this wolf was here. Did she had any connection to Vesper, or at least, a dislike for Corrin? She eyed the stranger, suddenly interested to see if she had any markings under the mud. Her thoughts were suddenly interrupted however, when the wolf spoke again to introduce herself.
"My name is Seryna... pleased to meet you." She examined the wolf again for a short moment, then said, "I'm sure you're eager to clean off that mud."

Dawn
Dawns smile dropped a bit when Seryna's expression change at the name. "Yes, it is said to be her favorite place on the mortal world. I-i can definitely appreciate why..." No doubt, this wolf would react to the name. But she hoped it didn't change her opinion of the place. It really was a beautiful place.
She really didn't mind this wolf to much. She was nice, quiet, and didn't bombard her with questions or demand a conversation partner. She just let dawn fill in whenever. If there was one thing dawn avoided, it was a wolf that questioned her a lot.
Dawn smiled at her suggestion. She had been eager to get the mud off, although she didn't want to be rude. "Do you mind? It'll only take a Minuit." She stepped back, and gave her fur a good shake. Using her paw to get off any extra dirt, she rid herself of the dried Mud. There was no trace of even the slightest idea that she would be treated differently by this wolf. After all, she herself would never imagine doing so, so why would others? in fact, the thought didn't even cross her mind.

Vesper's favorite place in the mortal world? Seryna guessed he probably wouldn't appreciate a messenger of Corrin setting foot here. Now knowing where she was, Seryna didn't think it was really a good idea to hand around in case a messenger of Vesper showed up. It probably wouldn't end well, and the very thought gave Seryna a headache.
Seryna herself took a step back when Dawn began to shake out her fur, to avoid getting hit by any mud. When she glanced to the wolf again, one little thing caught her eye. It was quite obvious what Seryna was staring at, the green swirls that climbed up Dawn's front leg and more than that ran down her face. She did look rather surprised, but among all the things Seryna was now thinking, she wondered how she had not figured this out before. A gray-eyed wolf covered in mud, in a place called Vesper's Pond?
At first she was speechless, and a bit angry. There was no doubt in her mind that Dawn knew Seryna was a messenger of Corrin, but she hid the fact that Dawn herself was a messenger. And now she revealed her markings, and Seryna wondered if this wolf believed it would not change anything. All thanks to their gods they were supposed to be enemies, a normal conversation between messengers of the two gods was almost unheard of. But here they were.
Still unsure of how to react to the situation, Seryna could only start by stating the obvious. "You're a messenger of Vesper."

Dawn
Making sure she was free of mud, she looked back to Seryna and watched the emotions cross her face. Surprise, Confusion, realization, Anger, nothing. Than, as she stated the obvious, Dawn realized something.
"Yes, and your a messenger of Corrin." Did this wolf really have no idea? Surely the mud didn't cover up All of her markings. "Is there a problem?" Would seryna be angry? Upset? surely she wouldn't hold the fact that she was a messenger of vesper against dawn. Or would she? Not really sure any more, Dawn waited for a response.

Seryna silently scolded herself. How did she not see the markings? It was simply not possible for the mud to cover all of them. Perhaps the tips of her ears hadn't been covered, or her tail? Was Seryna so blind that she missed them all? With a subtle shake of her head Seryna cleared her mind of all these questions. Somehow she had been unaware of this wolf's identity, but now it was clear exactly who she was.
"It does not bother you who I am?" Seryna asked, she was quite shocked by how calm Dawn was now. Her other run-ins with messengers of Vesper had not gone so smoothly, but she had to admit Dawn was definitely more tolerable than most wolves she had met recently. "Our gods are fighting, and we are able to have a civil conversation? Doesn't that strike you as odd?" Lately Seryna hadn't been able to talk to any wolf, let alone an actual messenger of Vesper.

Dawn
Dawn thought about her words for a moment. Yes, it was a bit odd now that she thought about it. Even as they spoke, the anger dawn held back from vesper welded up. but suddenly, the small, shy she-wolf had an erge to say what was on her mind, for the first time in a while.
"No, no it does not. Granted, our gods are fighting. We are connected to our gods by our markings, deeper that most wolves. But that gives us no excuse to feel hate towards each other. I only just met you Seryna, and i like you. I like the way you stand, and how proud you are. i like the way you don't rush me when i speak. I could even see a wolf like you becoming my friend.
You obviously had no idea i was a messenger, and we had a nice conversation. Don't you see? If two wolves like ourselves can have a normal conversation, what does that say about the way our gods are acting? It doesn't mater what our markings say in a time like this, it does not mean we have to reflect our gods behavour on one and other. "
Dawn stopped, and exhaled deeply. That was one of the longest speeches she had ever given without studdering or trailing off. Also, In a strange way, vespers anger had blown off of her a bit. she had used the gods anger to give her strength and say what was on her mind.
